U.S. City Branding

The U.S. City Branding project is creating a new identity for the cities in the U.S.. The challenge was producing visual pieces that captures the spirit and history of the city. The goal was to create a cohesive brand system that will be represented throughout the different platforms. Hierarchy and balance needed to be present across all platforms in order for the audience to understand clarity and consistency. Designing a branding guide helped initiate and plan the consistency that was going to be provided across these documents. Multiple design problems became present in this process and as designers we were encouraged to explore solutions involved with the design process.

This project introduced us as designers to more complex identity systems. Understanding one idea ans spreading it across types of platforms. The struggle was staying consistent throughout all platforms, the brochure was challenging to find a successful layout. I didn’t want photographic images to be the main focus of the brochure, so pieces such as the map and cover are more illustrated and come off more successful overall.
