Children’s Book

Creating a children’s book is a fragile balance of storytelling through illustrations and text. Because the audience was a young demographic, the book needed to have small amounts of text, while displaying new ideas where the audience can learn and be encouraged to read. All the design choices come into view here, such as color palette, size, the illustrations, the layout, typography, etc. Children will be drawn to whimsy, playfulness that maintains rhythm and interest. I was challenged with the layout of this book, trying to understand it from an imaginative kid's mind, understanding what is going to make them want to turn to the next page.
